This is Simon’s favourite marrow variety. This variety never dissapoints. When you have grown these, you will never look back.
Planting and sowing instructions
Sow April to June. Flowers June to August. Harvest June to October. Sow indoors from April to May for transplanting later. Prepare soil in spring by adding plenty of farmyard manure. Indoors sow seed at a depth of 2.5cm into 7.5cm pots of free draining seed compost. Place in a propagator or sealed container inside a plastic bag until germination in about 7 days. Light helps germination. Once growing, grow on in cooler conditions until large enough to be transplanted. Gradually acclimatise them to outdoors over 10 days before planting them out in rich well drained soil in full sun 90cm apart. Cover with netting. Or direct sow outside at a depth of 2.5cm and 90cm apart. Sow 2 per hole and thin the weakest.
