No soil. No dig. No weeds. No waste.

Strawbale Gardening.

Strawbale gardening has been growing in popularity all over the world. It is exiting, eco friendly and most of all, it results in cracking crops of vegetables. With strawbale gardening you do not need soil, ever. So it follows that you can have a wonderfull strawbale garden on almost any surface. Concrete, grass, on your drive, patio, in fact almost anywhere. Also there are no weeds. Strawbale gardening is very versatile, a bale can fit into most spaces. And a strawbale garden looks fantastic. Simon Gibbins is one of the pioneers of the method in the UK. Enjoying great success, and teaching others from all over the world.

A FEW WORDS FROM SIMON.

There are many methods of gardening. They all have their pros and cons. I do not only garden in straw, but it is well worth trying and has many advantages. Over the years, I have discovered what grows well for me, in my area. I have also tried and tested many vegetable varieties and know which ones grow best for me in straw bales. This research has taken a long time with much experimenting. Some successes. Many failures.

These are my favourite vegetables to grow in straw with the varieties I always use. Of course you will not be supprised to learn that I stock them in my seed shop.

With food prices goin up and up, more people are turning their hand at growing their own vegetables and herbs. This method gives most anyone a chance, no matter what sort of space they have. Plus, a strawbale garden looks great and will surely get the neighbours talking. From an environmental point of view this method is a winner. No plastics, and no waste. When the strawbale becomes ‘tired’ it makes first rate compost.
