Seaweed is a Great Weed.

Seaweed is a great addition to your garden. It contains many nutrients including nitrogen and potassium. Its good for root and vegetable growth. Its great for your Strawbale Garden as well as your conventional plot. You can obviously buy it in many forms , or make it yourself. There are a number of rules you should follow when collecting your seaweed.

1. Make sure you are allowed to collect, some areas it is prohibited. 2. Do not collect near sewerage outfalls. 3. TAKE CARE with tides. Purchase a tide table from a local fishing tackle shop.

I usually wait until a storm and collect along the tide line. Get it home and hose it off really well. I use a fishing net. Keep turning the weed to get all salt, sand and debris out. Simply put in a big container and fill with water. Put a lid on and stir every three days. Do this for a month. Store away from the house as it really gets smelly. Dilute five parts water to one weed tea. You can use in a spray bottle as well.

I hope you find this useful. If you could like and share I would appreciate it. Also please take a look at all the new Spring offers on the seeds page here and save £££s.

Thanks and great gardeneing.

Simon.
